As our country is so extensive and diverse in its landscapes, it has been divided in it 6 touristic regions, as well as the National Tourism Secretary (SECTUR) do it. This Secretary, having the support and cooperation from the touristic enterprisals since 1992, presents Argentina as "The 6 Continent's Country". In this way, they try to distinguish the most different touristic sceneries that our country has, so that when the passengers come, they have the idea that "coming to Argentina is to visit many sceneries from the world in just 1 trip". This is the region of the great rivers, of the humid tropics, of the red earth and magnificent jungle. A virgin jungle full of gigantic trees, and extraordinary flora and fauna. Great Waters, in the Guarani language Iguazu, which overflow with a roar in one of the wonders of the world, the Falls of Iguazu.
The North-Western region is a place of high peaks- here is Aconcagua, " the stone sentinel" - snow-capped volcanoes, plateaus, dry gullies and deserts. Under clear blue sky, small villages let the seasons pass by quietly, only interrupted by the carnivals, Indian markets and the worship of "Pachamama" or Mother Earth who provides maize and the pastures ehere the llamas and guanacos graze. Silent forests a thousand years old where the vegetation reaches down to the shores of calm pools of water. On the heights of the most beautiful mountains on earth, Nature manifests itself in granite peaks and ice fields whose glacial tongues end in lakes of unequaled beauty. And to the South, Tierra del Fuego and Ushuaia the most southern enclave in the world and the open door to the immense the mysterious Antarctic. Impressive mammals and sea birds, half way between real life and fantasy, spend certain seasons on the rough coasts of Patagonia where they complete the Valdes Peninsula the sea elephants have the only continental enclave in Nuevo and San Jose gulfs to breed. Patagonian hars,South American ostrich and guanocos run about the steppes and largest colony Magellan penguins in the world nest at Punta Tombo La pampa is a sea of green grass that occupies a quarter of the country. Home of the legendary gaucho, all the romantic fantasies about Argentina are concentrated here. An immense land fit for dreams and for man to rediscover himself. Prairies reaching out of sight dotted with thousands of head of cattle which are the basis of the asados (roasts) of the best meat in the world. And presiding over these plains, fine ranch houses, horse hitched to a rail and the gauchos taking mate beneath the shade of anombu tree.
Buenos Aires, close to the splendid countryside surrounding it, is the great cosmopolitan doorway to South America. This great metropolis has eleven million inhabitants and one of the largest in the world. It is also the most elegant and busy city in South America and is in some way the essence of the variety of the Argentinean. |
